Special Event Liability

If you are considering hosting a single or multi-day function, with or without the service of alcohol, then we highly recommend purchasing a Special Event liability insurance policy.  This type of policy provides the event host with protection in the event of a lawsuit.

A Special Event liability policy would be beneficial for the following types of functions:

  • meetings and conventions
  • family reunions
  • music festivals or concerts
  • ball or hockey tournaments
  • film shoots or film festivals
  • theatrical performances
  • youth dance
  • camps
  • rodeos
  • craft shows
  • and more!

The policy provides the following coverage:

  • Commercial General Liability (limits of $1,000,000 – $5,000,000 are most common)
    • Including Third Party Property Damage and Bodily Injury
  • Deductibles normally start at $1,000
  • Medical Payments ($2,500 per person, $25,000 maximum)
  • Non-Owned Automobile
  • Food and Beverage Product coverage
  • Cross Liability
  • Employee/Volunteer as Additional Insured
  • Tenant’s Legal Liability (limit of $500,000 most common)

To obtain a Special Events liability insurance policy, there is a simple application form to be completed.  The premiums vary depending on the details of the particular function.  Special policies are also available for other types of functions, including Weddings (providing three 24hr periods of liability coverage and cancellation coverage), Exhibitors (including booths and kiosks), Caterers, Party Alcohol, Liquor Liability, Server Liability, Safe Grad Liability, and more.
