Thank you to our friends at Travelance Insurance for sharing their blog with us on the Top Travel Destinations in Canada! Enjoy!

“Canada is one of the top travel destinations for tourists from around the world. Travellers can’t get enough of Canadians’ friendly nature and the vast breathtaking landscapes. There’s something in Canada for every type of traveller at any time of year. In this post, we share what we think represent some of the top travel destinations in Canada that should not be missed!

Halifax, NS

Halifax

Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia, is a treat for the eyes and senses. Like much of the province, the city offers unmatched views of the ocean and the benefits of the clean, crisp sea breeze. The metropolitan area is a thriving centre for arts and culture but also retains its historic charm as much of the city’s Victorian architecture remains.

Visitors can hike, bike, or take their car around the city for the best views. In addition to festivals offered year round, visitors can take part in the riveting immigration experience with a visit to the Canadian Immigration Museum at Pier 21.

Quebec City, QC

Quebec City

Quebec City, designated a World Treasure by UNESCO, is the only walled city north of Mexico and the heart of French culture and language in Canada.

The city’s narrow cobblestone streets and dominating spires remind us of its connection to significant moments in 18th and 19th century European and North American history but its lush natural surroundings are uniquely Canadian. While the city offers fun throughout the year, the romance and beauty of the city comes to life during the winter months when visitors can book a stay at the Hotel de Glace and take in the famous Quebec Winter Carnival.

Niagara Falls & Surrounding Region

Located along the American and Canadian border, between Ontario and the state of New York, three waterfalls make up this breathtaking site. The Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three, lies on the Canadian side and we can boast of the best view of all three waterfalls. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful spectacle of thunderous waterfalls filling the gorge from around 57 meters high!  From Toronto, Niagara Falls is about an hour away by car and seasonal trains.

Toronto, ON

CN Tower

The CN Tower is one of Canada’s most distinct landmarks located in Toronto, ON.  This iconic tower stands 553 meters tall and is visible from almost every corner of the city. From the top, you can enjoy a 365 degree view of Toronto and Lake Ontario. If you’re feeling a bit peckish, enjoy a unique dining experience from the revolving restaurant.

The Canadian Rocky Mountains

Rockies

The Canadian Rockies are a pristine example of rugged natural beauty. Comprised of four national and three provincial parks, the Rockies showcase waterfalls, canyons, and landscapes filled with snow covered peaks. On the foothills of the Rockies, there are comfortable resorts and villages, which offer world class dining and accommodations.

Be it sightseeing for cultural history, or enjoying the thrilling outdoor adventures provided by  the lakes, forests, snow-capped mountains, and rivers, you will leave with unforgettable memories.

Since weather conditions in the area can be unpredictable, travellers visiting this region may want to invest in travel insurance with trip cancellation/interruption benefits.

Banff National Park

When travelling to the Canadian Rockies, make sure Banff National Park is on your list. Established in 1885, Banff National Park is Canada’s first and most visited national park. Its’ gripping glacial peaks and vast undeveloped lands are a testament to its original mandate to conserve natural lands. Filled with campgrounds and a small number of resorts, Banff National Park is the destination for any seasoned and aspirational outdoor adventurer.

Whistler

Whistler is located approximately  an hour and a half from the city of Vancouver.  This city gained heightened popularity after hosting events during the 2010 Winter Olympics.  It is the destination for anyone who loves adventure sports such as biking and skiing! The Peak 2 Peak Gondola offers 360 degree views of the village and surrounding mountain scapes.

Whistler hosts, among other festivals, the annual World Ski and Snowboard Festival as well as the Whistler Film Festival. Round out your vacation with some down time by visiting local museums or art galleries.

From the east to the west coast, Canada offers unique experiences for every type of traveller. Consider making one of our favourite cities and spaces in Canada your next vacation destination!”
